Raspberry Pi projects involve combining hands-on electronic wiring with programming.  Our kids programmed the Raspberry Pi with Python 3 to turn ON and OFF LEDs, and to read pushbutton inputs.  With that knowledge they modified their existing turtle GUI programs to interface with the electronics.  They were able to simulate a visual representation of two traffic lights and at the same time control the circuit board LEDs.
