STEM Club of America (SCOA) was founded in Grovetown, Georgia. The idea of SCOA started with a group of parents who wanted to get their daughters interested in STEM. The GECO club officially began meeting in 2017. As the meetings grew, several local businesses offered support and donations to GECO if the club became a non-profit. Several GECO parents realized there was a larger community need for STEM, so they formed SCOA.

SCOA gained 501 (c) (3) status in 2019. SCOA supports STEM clubs in achieving their goals in providing educational technical training to the community.  The organization provides STEM educational materials, equipment, mentors, meetup location options, and assistance in running the clubs.
